tree house

I grew up in an endless competition with my brother to see who could build the best treehouse.   He was older, so he always seemed to get the highest spot in the tree.  But my mid-tree designs had rope ladders, trap doors, and fire poles for fast escapes.  I’m also still building tree houses when I get the chance.  The one below was built for a McDonald’s commercial.  It was later modified for my kids with a ship’s ladder, mast and bow sprint.  The ship’s ladder with hand-rails was built for a special needs child who couldn’t climb a regular ladder.  Turned out the family dog could even climb the ship’s ladder so she became the 1st mate.   Look closely, and you can see her in the 2nd photo below.
